Where I'd Really Like To Be This Autumn...

WHERE ELSE? Gidi of course!! Have you heard of all the stuff going on? It makes me sick (lol) to know that I'm missing out:

1. The 8th Lagos Book & Art Festival (14-17 September) at the National Museum, Onikan. More info at Stamped CORA .

2. The Lagos Comics & Cartoons Carnival (15-17 September) at Terra Kulture.

3. The ThisDay Music Festival featuring Jay-Z, Beyonce, Missy, Ciara, Busta Rhymes, Sunny Ade, Lagbaja, D'Banj, Tuface, Weird MC, Dare Art-Alade and Seun Anikulapo Kuti on October 7 and 8, 2006 at the Oceanview restaurant.

This festival is to celebrate Nigeria's Independence Anniversary and the tour is in partnership with the U.N and MTV in order to bring attention to the World's Water Crisis. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE, CHECK OUT JAY-Z's Tour dates .

4. Channel O African Music Video Awards (well I guess I could watch it on Channel O in Gidi even if I weren't in S.A) held at at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg on the 15th of October.

5. The Abuja Carnival Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th November 2006 - see http://www.thecarnival.tv/

6. The Digital World Conference at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja (12th-13th September, 2006).

I keep putting this off, Chichi has a really good post on "Lets Talk About Sex" so check it out.

Honestly speaking, jokes apart, WHAT THE KCUF are you still doing in Blighty? You need to be down here because you are to up on things out here! Had no clue bout all that stuff except the Hova concert (up on all things Hova) which I've known was in the works for ages (still not excited yet - I am a pessimist so until I see him). I will definitely check out the cartoon and comic thing cuz I'm interested in that. Maybe the book thing too. Thanx for the blog love too ma. Is it really that interesting though? Was just ranting as usual... More to come. promise :D

Not trying to rubbish Mona's post as she's just reporting as advertized so this ain't beef. On the supposed artistes websites, here's what has been uncovered:

Jay-Z(roc-a-fella.com): Oct 7 Lagos (Oceanview)
Beyonce (beyonceonline.com): Tyra Banks Show tomorrow and a bunch of European dates for next year. No Nigeria.
Missy (missy-elliott.com): Currently no dates scheduled
Ciara (ciaraworld.com): New Site Coming Soon. No official info then.
Busta Rhymes (bustarhymes.com): October 6 Los Angeles, CA (Staples Center); October 8 Anaheim, CA (Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim). So unless he's coming here in between, I don't see how.
and you forgot about Snoop love.
Snoop Dogg (snoopdogg.com): Last date is August 5th.

I'm not hating. ThisDAY has just not come through on more than one occasion plus my dad worked on the Children of Africa concert way back when so I know how it feels to get excited by big names then have your bubble burst when they don't show. Heck, from past lessons, Sunny Ade might not even show up.

So based on this info, apart from Busta, I guess all of them can still make it down here, even though Jay-Z (the only one I really care about) seems to be the only confirmed (via his site) performer. I may go to Ghana to see him though cuz this Naija get as e be.

Let's hope we are entertained regardless.

I loved that mirror picture -- apparently, women are never satisfied with their looks.
