Celebrating Nigerian Women

Remember the book I mentioned - "Celebrated: Nigerian Women in Development" by Ayona Aguele-Trimnell? Well I didn't mention it in much detail, I just spoke about the book reading at Terra Kulture in November. Well, there is a website for the book.

Don't you just love Nigerian women? No hating oh! xxx

First Fridays

For the career-minded ladies (and gents), this is a brilliant networking event/mixer (ignore dates on flyer) where you can meet people who have experience in the field, prospective employers and mentors, held every first Friday of the month at La Casa in Lagos. What would you rather spend your time doing during happy hour than networking (wink wink)? www.firstfridayslagos.com

See pics below from the last mixer, more pics available at purefoto

first friday my fucking butt,i bet everyone will be posing and be doing lagos big boy and big girl or whatever they call them and they will be feeling too big to talk to people they do not know or are not in their 'click', except of course they find out you are a high ranking professional and then they'll lick ur ass!all d people i saw in the pictures are all fucking snobs!please dont let me puke!

Aramide said...

lol guys guys - first off you had to NOMINATE THE PPL so i guess more of a general consensus (or not) went to the people chosen.

SECONDLY ANON, chill for us now, I believe the event had more attendees, apologies for selecting pics of "snobs". I believe there were more people there and there must be friendly people. It is worth trying and if you dont like it you dont like it.

So people, dont be put off oh but I feel anon on what he/she is saying tho.

lol @ anonymous...i feel that person but gently gently.I believe the first friday will serve a purpose in the long run

It seems there are 2 women in the pic (one from US and the UK one) who did not make the list.

Is it that they were jaboed or they declined?

Love the idea behind the Global top 40 under 40 professional women. Gives me something to aspire to. Thanks for the link to First Fridays Lagos. Totally cool idea. The website though lost me at "Director level within five years". If they are truly emulating the FF events in the US it wasn't really like that.
